Passport control when flying into Baghdad

March 28, 2023July 1, 2023 mh

A year or two ago, Iraq changed its rules so that citizens of many countries can get a visa-on-arrival at the airport. This is always the easiest procedure. One time, I went to Syria. This was before the war. We could not get visas on arrival at the airport in Damascus. We had to be… Continue reading Passport control when flying into Baghdad

March 14, 2023March 26, 2023 mh

Here is a series of five videos that show what Baghdad looks like during midday. The route is roughly as follows: Going from the Mansour neighborhood, to the Royal Private Hospital It's a very simple route, and though the streets were sometimes choked with cars, it wasn't so bad and we got back and forth… Continue reading Driving through Baghdad

A new video about Sweden

March 7, 2023March 4, 2023 mh

The last time I made a video about Sweden, it was fall 2017. Can't believe we're 6 years past 2017. The time gap was not intentional. I just got caught up with other things. But I finally got one done. . Taylor Swift singing about Sweden (Mirrorball): I made this in Blender 3D. I tried… Continue reading A new video about Sweden

The Los Angeles metro was on time

February 19, 2023February 19, 2023 mh

I was going from Pasadena to the West Los Angeles Regional Branch library -- they were having an arts program. You have to cross most of Los Angeles to do this. And I don't have a car, so I took four buses and light rails, and needed all the connections to work just right so… Continue reading The Los Angeles metro was on time

Vickie Honeycutt Baccalaureate Speech, 2000

December 10, 2022December 10, 2022 mh

This is a memory ... Vickie Honeycutt was a much-loved teacher at my high school for decades. I had her for English. In spite of her universal popularity, I didn't like her that much, and I don't think she liked me either. She probably thought I was annoying. She died quite young of cancer in… Continue reading Vickie Honeycutt Baccalaureate Speech, 2000

Angel chimes trumpeting sparkly hearts

November 12, 2022February 19, 2023 mh

I think this is one of my favorite scenes I've ever made in Blender: Those are the angel chimes completed, and I have them spinning; and as they spin, they shoot sparkly hearts out the mouths of the trumpets of the angels!

Fireworks animated

November 5, 2022February 19, 2023 mh

Making fireworks in Blender3D is not hard at all: I used this tutorial and it didn't take long. It's amazing all the cool, shiny things you can do with particle systems. Right now, the particles comprising the fireworks are just round balls -- but, you could do hearts. Or smiley faces. I made a string… Continue reading Fireworks animated
