This will be the shortest of my four walks through Los Angeles. The others took hours, this one is like half an hour. (But I think the others were probably more fun and adventurous!)

First, you are going to take the metro (the A line or the E line) to the Little Tokyo stop. This is one of the newest stops, so nice and shiny. Walk out, and boom! You are in a hive of activity! All Japanese stores all around you. I kind of thought Little Tokyo was nicer than Chinatown. Chinatown has a very nice outlook when you see if first getting off the metro at that stop, with big red lanterns hanging from the sky, but once you walk out onto the streets, it looks a bit more like regular drab ugly Los Angeles all around you. Whereas Little Tokyo has a different architecture and felt more like I was in a different place.
So enjoy that, all the shops and restaurants, and then walk sort of south-east. It gets pretty desolate pretty fast. So try not to be killed. But eventually out of the dust and desolation emerges the 6th street bridge. I think it’s supposed to be a famous landmark. I started walking east over it. But it’s pretty long so I didn’t make it all the way. Also all full of trash and discarded clothes and what-not, you know, the usual in Los Angeles.
So third, come back off of the bridge and keep walking south, and now you are in the “arts district”. I did this on a sleepy Sunday, so maybe that’s why I got a sense of it being more of a sleepy district than an arts district, but there were some interesting stores I looked through the windows of. Also overpriced cafes and overpriced restaurants and all the rest.
And that’s it! Desolation, “art”, and the pop of Little Tokyo all in one!
And here are the rest of my Los Angeles walks: longer but much more fun!
